This course introduces the fundamentals of intelligent system technologies and their industrial applications. It will present the principles of knowledge-based systems, fuzzy logic and artificial neural networks and explore how manufacturing and automation could benefit from application of these technologies. It will discuss the representation of knowledge, knowledge acquisition, Decision making mechanism, Learning and machine learning, as well as its applications in manufacturing (DFM, design automation).
