Special Topics in Environmental Engineering

Course Description
The objective of this course is to introduce the principles of pollution prevention, environmentally benign products, processes and manufacturing systems. Students will learn the impacts of wastes from manufacturing and post-use product disposal, environmental cycles of materials, sustainability development strategy, and principles of environmental economics. Materials selection, process and product design, and packaging are addressed. This course is intended for use by students majoring in environmental engineering or chemical engineering to the field of pollution prevention.
Sufficient background information is provided to those new to the field to understand the concepts discussed in follow-up chapters.
