A monograph ‘Laser surface modification of alloys for corrosion and erosion resistance’, edited by Prof. Chi Tat Kwok was published by the Woodhead Publishing Limited, a well-known science and technical books publisher in UK. Two book chapters were also contributed by Prof. Kwok and his PhD students (Ms. Po Kee Wong and Mr. Weng Kin Chan), and Dr. Kin Ho Lo from the research team of Materials Science in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering of FST.
Corrosion and erosion processes can occur independently or synergistically to cause serious damage to metallic materials. Laser surface modification techniques are being increasingly used to treat surfaces to prevent corrosion or repair corroded / damaged components. This book addresses the lack of a comprehensive book dealing with this topic and provides an impetus to the research on laser surface modification of various engineering alloys for enhancing their corrosion and erosion resistance.
