In this talk, I will discuss an algorithm for image stitching. Our idea is to propose a variational approach containing an energy functional to determine both weighting mask functions and a stitched image together. Both theoretical and numerical results are presented to show that the proposed model works very well, compare it with the other existing methods.
Prof. Michael Ng is currently a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Hong Kong Baptist University. He received his Ph.D. degree at Chinese University of Hong Kong. Prof. Ng has won the Honorable Mention of Householder Award IX and the Outstanding Young Researcher Award of the University of Hong Kong in 1996 and 2001 respectively. He is also the plenary speaker of SIAM Conference on Applied Linear Algebra in 2009. His main research areas include Bioinformatics, Data Mining, Operations Research and Scientific Computing. Prof. Ng has published and edited 5 books, published more than 200 journal papers, and has reviewed papers for more than 50 international journals.
